The Slate Political Gabfest (US based) talked this week about how social media takes us out of our political comfort zones. That is, in our daily lives it is likely we mostly communicate with people who are similar politically to us, but social media gives us a much larger chance to interact with the other side. My whole Facebook/Twitter is blowing up with debates right now, and hell, it is a lot more interesting than the relentless patriotism we had during the Rugby World Cup.

New Android looks very Windows Phone 7/Metrolike.
I am totally okay with this. I way prefer the design of WP7 to iOS. Lots of the new Android features look sweet, especially the NFC stuff, and the overall design looks solid, but I really really hope they put a lot of work into making it more attractive for devs. I would say that is Android’s largest problem.
This dude made a greasemonkey script to turn the Rugby World Cup into quidditch on Twitter. He is releasing it publicly tonight and I can’t wait.

But I’ll argue that Accessibility is actually more important than Security because dialing Accessibility to zero means you have no product at all, whereas dialing Security to zero can still get you a reasonably successful product such as the Playstation Network.

(1) Rip Rowan - Google - Stevey’s Google Platforms Rant I was at Amazon for about…
This post is epic.
I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.
Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.
The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.
For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.

Apple.com right now. I am not an Apple guy but no one can dispute how much he shaped this industry, as well as several others. A huge loss.
